Preserve The Early Years

Screens 'n' Kids

Welcome aboard

Screens N Kids

Screens are here to stay, and so are our kids. Welcome to the place where we will unpack together how screens, digital media and technology are reshaping our children & find practical ways to help them (and us) navigate the world wide web

Why Screens N Kids

Trying to cook dinner and the kids want to build a fort? Are you sometimes wondering how much screen time is too much? Do you worry if there are any long term effects of constant digital media engagement by your child? Do you think kids needs more time outdoors?

While the data is returning on the effects of excess screen use on various aspects of child development, how can we as parents navigate these murky waters? How can we remain practical, realistic and yet empower ourselves to reign in on this “screen horse” that has long left the barn?

Let us journey together – we will hear from  Early childhood experts, catch a glimpse of why the outdoors is such a big deal in the early years in Sweden; and we will ask children book authors why now, more than ever we need to spark that sense of imagination & creativity in our kids. Most of all, we will extend parents grace to learn, to do better – now that we know better – because we must preserve the early years of childhood

Quotes

Spending The Time

“You can choose to spend time meeting children’s emotional needs by filling up their cup with love, or choose to spend time dealing with behaviors caused from their unmet needs. Either way, you will spend the time. Choose wisely.”                                                             -Pam Leo

Power Their Imagination

“Give Children toys that are powered by their imagination and not by batteries.”

                                                                           -H Jackson Brown

The words we speak

“The way we talk to our children becomes their inner voice.”

                                                                                 -Peggy o Mara

The Power of paying attention

Every day, in a 100 small ways, our children ask, ‘Do you hear me? Do you see me? Do I matter?’ Their behavior often reflects our response.”
